How many hits does Horses-Now get?

Millions... but we prefer to count the number of unique visitors each day. Currently (April 2009) we are attracting up to 1500 unique visitors per day. The majority (over 95%) of these are UK and Ireland residents.

Can I post an ad for free?

Yes. A private advertiser can post a basic advert with a single photo, free of charge. A free Ad can be used to sell any horse, horsebox or equine related product of any value. For members we have the premium ad which has more detail, up to 4 pictures and a youtube video. Price information is posted clearly within the site. For Trade adverts - please call us.

How long are ads shown on the site?

All private ads stay on the site for 2 months. If you sell your horse during the two months there are several ways of removing the ad - see below.

How do I remove an ad from the site?

You can use the edit an ad feature to make buyers aware of the sold status. You can also email us using the email address that you used to add the advert to request that it be removed. Please note - you must send the message from the email used when you filled in the form to ensure ads are not deleted by imposters.

Will my ad details stay online long after the ad has expired, like some other sites?

Horses-Now.co.uk ensures that all expired adverts will not show personal details of advertisers as soon as they have expired.

What are CRS Numbers?

CRS Numbers are premium rate (from 50p per minute) and are attached to the free Ads shortly after they are posted. They help keep the site mainly free by allowing Horses-Now to make a small commission on calls made in response to the free adverts.

Do CRS Numbers cost the seller anything?

CRS Numbers cost the seller nothing at all. They are attached for free.

So who pays the 50p per minute?

People who call your CRS number in response to your ad will be charged 50p per minute from a landline. Calling from a mobile will be more than this and Horses-Now encourages callers to check with their mobile phone providers prior to calling the number to find out actual charge. Horses-Now also suggest that you keep conversations short with sellers and ask for personal landlines or mobile numbers so you can call back the seller at a cheaper rate.

Isn't this some form of scam?

No. This is a commercially available service that has been developed for this type of application. It is used throughout the Internet on many other classifieds sites. There have been stories about mis-use by not making callers aware of charges but that is not the case here.

Does Horses-Now sell my details to a third party?

No. We pride ourselves on keeping your personal data safe and will not use your details for our financial gain.

Why can I not put my email with my free advert?

As Horses-Now is a successful classifieds website that can be easily found using search engines it is, along with all other successful websites, a target for scammers from various places around the world. Scammers will almost always use email to contact advertisers as it is free and they can send a pre-prepared mail message. For this reason we prefer to remove mails altogether. You can add your email address on a paid advert but we would generally not recommend it.
